The difference between a fiberglass cast that is waterproof and one that is not involves the lining.  Cotton (webril) padding is not waterproof (left); Gore Procel (like Gore-Tex) lining is waterproof (middle). Waterproof lining allows you to shower and swim in your cast. Waterproof fracture bracing also is an option that can be discussed.
